Obituary

Robert H. Hunter, age 86, of Burlington, WI (Randall Township) died Friday evening August 12, 2016 at the United Hospital System, St. Catherine's Campus in Pleasant Prairie, WI.

Robert was born on February 25, 1930 in Hegwisch, IL the son of the late Michael and Irene Palkovich Hunter.  On March 10, 1951 in Hammond, IN, Robert was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Marie Louise Mulholland.  They met and fell in love over a bag of chocolate covered peanuts. They lived in Highland, IN and Northbrook, IL until moving to Kenosha County in 2006  .

Robert served in the U.S. Navy Reserves.  He worked as a Draftsman Engineer in the Chicago area and a salesman for Camco Co. in Wheeling, IL.  He was very involved in helping the disabled.  He taught swimming for many years at the North Suburban YMCA for disabled and underprivileged children.  He was a volunteer for the Canine Companions for the Independence and a member of the Chicago Woodturners Club.  Robert loved sailing and raced a Hobie Cat and sailed a 29 foot sailboat.  He was an avid bike rider.  He bottle fed goats.  He loved music, art, photography, nature and white water canoeing.  Robert and Marie were both involved in community theatre as actors in musical plays.  Robert used his woodworking skills to build sets for Techny Theatre which was located at the Divine Word Seminary in Techny, IL.  He built a moving  carousel with horses for the musical "Carousel.  Other plays they were involved with were "Mame" an "Kiss Me Kate in the 1970's.  Their daughter Jennifer helped paint the sets.

Robert is survived by:  His wife of 65 1/2 years- Marie; 3 children-Robert E. Hunter of Waukegan, IL, Jennifer R. Hunter (Dennis King) of Port Barrington, IL and Kimberly A. Hunter of Browntown, WI.
