Obituary

Ronald A. Simons; 98, of Scottsdale AZ formerly of Elkhorn, WI died Monday November 9, 2015 at Vi at Silverstone Scottsdale, AZ.  He was born October 22, 1917 in Hebron, WI the son of the late Sircy B. and Nina L. (Trow) Simons.  Ron graduated from Whitewater High School with the Class of 1935.  He served in WWII with the US Army-Air Force from November 2, 1942 until February 6, 1946 with a tour of duty in the South Pacific.  On June 11, 1949 he was united in marriage to Mary Ruth Mullikin at the First United Methodist Church of Elkhorn, WI.  Mary died April 26, 2015.  Ron operated the Simons Seed Farm of Elkhorn, WI his entire life, never really retiring.  When not farming he enjoyed traveling and was a avid genealogist who enjoyed several trips to explore his family heritage in England and Wales, he enjoyed fishing, especially his Canadian Fishing trips.  He was an avid sports fan enjoying watching baseball, basketball, football especially the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed feeding and watching the birds.  Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He is survived by his four children; Barbara (Henry) Gutmann of Brookfield, WI, James "Jim" Simons of Charlottesville, VA, Randolph "Randy" (Deborah) Simons of Phoenix, AZ and Gloria (James "Jay") Simons-Kriske of Cave Creek, AZ.  Three grandchildren; Amanda (Phil) Rumpf of Jackson, WI, Matthew Gutmann of Brookfield, WI and Ashley (Mike) Crouch of Lynchburg, VA.  Five great-grandchildren; Twins, Mason and Christopher Rumpf, Bennet Rumpf, Kalie and Aubrie Crouch.  Ron is further survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.  Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary, two sisters; Ella McGill and Helen Purcell and one brother Frank.  Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday November 16, 2015 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory 730 N. Wisconsin St. Elkhorn, WI with Rev. Dr. Scott McLeod officiating.  Burial with military honors will be at Hazel Ridge Cemetery Elkhorn, WI.  Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and Monday 10:00 AM until time of service.  Memorials may be made in Ron's name to: Fisher House Foundation 111 Rockville Pike Suite # 420 Rockville, Maryland 20850 or Wounded Warrior Project 230 W.
