Sarah Madge Longley, age 92, after a long and good life, entered the loving arms of her Lord and Savior at the Golden Living Alzheimer's Facility in Fort Atkinson, WI on May 16, 2014.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Bess (Evans) Roberts; husband, June; sister, Frances Shaw; brothers, Donald, Lawrence, and Ken; and son, John, and son-in-law Donald Theine.
Sarah married June Longley in September of 1943 in Carnie, NE. They moved to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL where June was a Ball Turret Gunner in the B-17 aircraft and Sarah drove a scooter delivering mail on the base to the soldiers and their families during WWII. After June's discharge they returned to the family farm on Hardscrabble Road in Dousman where they built their dream home on the hill. Sarah worked for many years at LuLu's Gift Shop in Dousman.
Mother of Linda Theine of Dousman and Virginia (Jack) Beatty of Menomone Falls; mother-in-law of Deborah Longley of Dousman; grandmother of Doug Theine, Dan (Kim) Theine, Debbie (Rob) Wojtowicz, Pamela Longley, Cyndi (Eric) Fosholdt, and Andy (Lisa) Gussert; great grandmother of Ashlynn Longley, Andrew Fosholdt, Alerik Longley-McHenry, Julianna, Addison, Breleigh, and Kassidy Wojtowicz.
Sarah was very active in the Women's Axillary of Dousman, the Oconomowoc YMCA, and the Old Sleepy Eye Pottery Club. She enjoyed travelling throughout the USA, Hawaii, and to her heritage in Wales, England. She loved her many flower gardens, always cutting bouquets for everyone. You may remember Sarah always in Red, White, and Blue and her many many hats and pins.
The family of Sarah extends a special "thank you" to the staff at Golden Living Healthcare Center for their patience and exceptional care.
Private graveside services will be held at St. Bruno's Catholic Cemetery.
