Sharon Noreen Eddington Sullivan Rieken, age 86, went to join her lord and savior on March 31, 2026 with family by her side. Born December 2, 1939 to Bertha and Gordon Eddington, Sharon grew up in Chicago IL, and attended St. Gertrude's Elementary School and cherished friendships from those early years throughout her life. Sharon graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka where she was a member of the golf team. In the fall of 1960 Sharon met police officer Peter Sullivan and they married the following April. Sharon had three children with Peter and they moved to Elkhorn, WI in 1967. After the marriage ended Sharon opted to stay in Elkhorn to raise the children and in 1976 became a devoted and beloved secretary of Elkhorn Area High School, where she worked until her retirement in 2004. Sharon maintained a close and loving relationship with her former mother-in-law, Helen Sullivan Ritter, as well as the Sullivan Family. Sharon married Carl Rieken at First Congregational Church in Elkhorn in 1981. Carl had three children from his first marriage to Sharon's dear friend Glendolynn "Glennie" Tapp Rieken. Sharon and Carl were married for 40 years until Carl's passing in 2021. They were avid travelers and enjoyed trips to Alaska, Hawaii, and Europe.
Sharon was preceded in death by one brother, Edward "Duke" Eddington, with whom she shared a birthday, 2 years apart.
Sharon is survived by her children George (Lynn) Sullivan, of Higgins Lake MI, Margaret (Larry) Chandler, of Covington TN, and Kathleen Sullivan, of Granbury TX, stepchildren Carla (Don) Rieken, of Whitewater WI, Charlie (Jean) Rieken of Elkhorn WI, and Christopher (Cheri) Rieken, of Hazel Green WI. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, with 2 more expected in the upcoming months. Sharon also had a very close and special relationship with her cousin, Sharon (Donald) Stout of Overland Park KS. The family would like to extend thanks to her family at Parkway Cove Senior Living, especially Brandy Jackson, and to Shawn Beard and Juanita Jones of Personal Care Services for their loving care in Sharon's final months.
According to Sharon's wishes she will be buried next to her mother in Bevier, Missouri at Oakwood Cemetery on Monday, April 6th at 1:00pm. Those wishing to express their sympathy may consider Covington First United Methodist Church, 145 W Church Ave, Covington TN 38019.
