Sherry Lee (Nelson) Plucinski July 3, 1937 – August 30, 2026
Sherry Lee Plucinski, 89, of Lauderdale Lakes, passed away at home on August 30, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. Funny, sassy, and beloved by everyone who met her, Sherry lived a full, joyful life and left behind a whole lot of great stories.
Sherry was born on July 3, 1937, in Crown Point, Indiana. She moved to Wisconsin as a child and graduated from Whitewater High School and went on to spend 60 years living life to the fullest at Lauderdale Lakes in Elkhorn.
She started her career at Sears in Whitewater and moved to banking in Elkhorn, but her real passions were out on the dance floor and out in the world — she loved square dancing, snowmobiling, golfing, bowling and swimming. She never missed a chance to play cards with friends, and you could often find her out walking with her beloved dog and constant companion, Molly. Sherry was also a longtime volunteer at the Walworth County Fair, working the LaGrange Methodist Church tent year after year. If you offered her a Miller Lite, she was never one to say no.
Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and her son, Chris "Carp" Plucinski.
She is survived by her son, Scott (Pat), and their daughters Kate (Jason DeLazzer), Kasey (Jeff Smith), and Kora (Nick Aplin); her daughter, Amy (Dusty Hoerter), and their son Jaxin (Riley); and Chris's children, Tim (Stacie), Mallory (Jimmy Bohling), Derek, and Alex (Jenna). Sherry was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren, who she loved dearly.
The family extends special thanks to sister-in-law Jenny Nelson-Milleson and granddaughters Jenna Plucinski and Mallory Bohling for their love and support through the final days. The family would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Lakeland Health Care Center and the caretakers at Agrace Hospice for their compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at her home Saturday, September 5, from 11am – 2pm, open house, light lunch to be served: W5834 Bubbling Springs Drive, Elkhorn.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Lauderdale LaGrange Fire Department: llfd.org/membership
