Sylvia L. Baker age 89 of Elkhorn, WI died peacefully at home on April 8, 2025 with her loving husband, and her children by her side.  Born on June 29, 1935 in Elkhorn, WI; she was the daughter of the late Earl and Bernice (Cole) Robinson.  Sylvia grew up on the farm where her dad was born near Lauderdale and Pleasant Lakes.  She spent much of her childhood outdoors, helping her father with the farm chores and fieldwork.  She learned much about the importance of hard work from him; her mother instilled the importance of keeping a happy and healthy home; Sylvia molded those life lessons into the person she became; and taught those lessons as generations went on.  As a child, Sylvia became very involved with 4-H, she took on many projects over the years and stayed involved as a project leader, county adult leader's president, and LaGrange 4-H general leader, continuing her involvement for over 50 years.

On June 10, 1955, Sylvia married Paul Baker at LaGrange United Methodist Church.  Together Sylvia and Paul started building their herd of Registered Polled Herefords, and were inducted into the WI Hereford Association Hall of Fame in 2005, and as Honorary Walworth County Fair Marshals in 1998. The Herefords are still on the farm today; and visible from the kitchen window.  Sylvia, Mrs. Baker, was proud of her "Tibbets kids" working as a secretary and aide for 30 years with the Elkhorn Area School District.

Together Sylvia and Paul raised their family on the farm next door to where Sylvia grew up.  They have spent many years creating memories with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, including hosting the family Thanksgiving for 70 consecutive years. Sylvia is survived by her husband; Paul; children; Robert (Jan) Baker, Michael Baker, Beverlee (Edward Wieners) Baker; grandchildren; Michelle (Doug) Britzke, Nicole (Eric) Jensen, Erin (John) Sukala, Dustin (Irina) Baker, Dana (Ryan Przybylski) Wieners, Megan Wieners, Maura (Carl Nindorf) Wieners, Jenny (Ron Swenson) Justus, Chris (Ed) Smiley, Elizabeth Bell; great-grandchildren; Landon & Jackson Britzke, Logan & Noelle Jensen, Dylan & Trevor Sukala, Levi & Lily Nindorf, Emma, Isabelle, & Audrey Smiley, Adrianna, Alexus, Amaya, & Austin Bell; great-great grandson; Liam Bennett; sister-in-law's; Jean (Harold) Kaeding, Donna Baker, and Mary Baker.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Earl and Bernice; sister; Alyce (Gordon) Smith; brother-in-law's; Russell & David Baker; in-law's; William & Ellen Baker; and great-granddaughter; Scarlett Jensen.

A visitation for Sylvia will be held on Thursday April 17, 2025 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 730 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI.  Overflow parking for the visitation can take place at Adam's Electric 801 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI; guests are welcome to park there if needed and make the short walk over to the funeral home.

A second visitation will take place on Friday April 18, 2025 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at LaGrange United Methodist Church N8548 County Road H Whitewater, WI.  Memorial service will take place at 11:00AM following the visitation.  Sylvia will be laid to rest in Round Prairie Cemetery that afternoon at 2:00PM.  In lieu of flowers, Sylvia's family has asked that in her honor, you take the time to donate blood, or feel free to donate to a charity of your choice in Sylvia's name.  An online guestbook can be found at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.  Sylvia's arrangements are under the direction of Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Elkhorn, WI.
