Obituary
Theresa A. Mattis was called home July 27th, 2014. She was born on February 13th, 1946 to the late Frank J. and Elsie L. Mattis (nee: Brendel) in Chicago, Ill. She spent her life on the family farm in Trevor. Theresa was a dedicated educator who loved teaching her students. Her life was teaching for 34 years, last teaching at Bristol School, retiring in 2002. "Miss Mattis" touched many people, educating for generations of families.
She loved the outdoors spending countless hours tending to her gardens. With her dogs by her side, you could always find them outside doing something. She loved her home, her garden, and her dogs. She passed on her green thumb to family and friends.
Theresa is survived by her sisters. Frances (Jack) LaMeer, Joan Rockwell, and Elsie Radcliff. She also leaves behind her niece Robin (Dave) Bulgrin and nephews Jake LaMeer, Jay (Hang) Radcliff, and Mike (Tracie) Radcliff. 1 great-niece and 6 great-nephews. In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her nephew Kenneth F. Rockwell in 2004, and various aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation. There will be an immediate family only service at a later date. Memorials to establish a teaching scholarship in her name at Westosha Central High school can be sent to Community State Bank.
The family would like to personally thank the Aurora Visiting Nurse Association, Union Grove/ Yorkville Fire and Rescue, Burlington Memorial Hospital ER staff, and the Hospice nurses.
