Thomas Frank Puralewski

March 5, 1947- May 31, 2016

Thomas "Tom" F. Puralewski, age 69, of Elkhorn passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 31 at Lakeland Medical Center. He was born in Chicago, IL on March 5, 1947, the son of the late Thomas L. Puralewski and Jean (Carlson) Puralewski. Tom spent his childhood in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago until his family moved to Crystal Lake, Illinois, where he completed high school. Later, he went on to graduate from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a degree in Civil Engineering.  Tom was a "builder's" engineer. There was almost nothing that he couldn't construct or repair. His determination and persistence propelled him to be the best that he could at work, in the community and most importantly, at home.  Tom was first and foremost a family man. His wife, Beverly, and daughter, Larissa, were always his first priority. He shined brightly as a husband and a father. Tom dearly loved his Father-in-Law Frank Jarmoluk and Mother –in –law Henrietta (Chaplinski) Jarmoluk, who preceded him in death. Perhaps Tom's greatest and most important role in life, was as Grandfather to Thomas. He and his grandson, shared a special bond and love that was deeper than words can describe. His impact on Thomas in both life and death is immeasurable.  Tom considered himself blessed in countless ways, and he believed strongly in sharing those blessings with others. He and Beverly participated in the local Meals on Wheels program. He also assisted Beverly with many of her projects with S.M.I.L.E.S. therapeutic riding in Delavan.   His greatest volunteer honor stemmed from his participation in the Blackhawk Chapter of Trout Unlimited, where he recently became Youth Educational Coordinator. A fisherman himself, Tom wanted to share the wonder of the stream and the beauty of nature with children.  He viewed fly fishing as a skill for any age.  Tom was happiest fly fishing with his grandson.  A true sportsmen and catch and release fishermen, he simply wanted to share that joy with others.

Tom is survived by his devoted and loving wife of nearly 46 years, Beverly; one daughter; Larissa (Steven) Lyon of Janesville, WI, one grandson, Thomas Edward Lyon, two sisters; Pamela (Fred) Slaby of Luxemburg, WI and Barbara (Paul) Olinick of Schaumburg, IL, one brother Dale (Doreen) Puralewski of Huntley, IL and by a host of other relatives and friends.  Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Friday June 3, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church 107 W. Walworth Street Elkhorn, WI.  Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.  Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery Lake Geneva, WI.  On line guestbook is at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com
