Thyra Lynn Broten, age 57, of Ingleside, IL, passed away Thursday morning, September 6, 2018 at the Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital in McHenry, IL.

The former Thyra Lynn Bauman was born on September 24, 1960 in Burlington, WI, the daughter of Ronald J. Bauman and Judith Aughinbaugh.  On May 18, 2008 at All Saints Lutheran Church in Fox Lake, IL, Thyra was united in marriage to Cody C. Broten.  Thyra lived in Genoa City, WI and Fox Lake, IL before moving to Ingleside, IL in 2014.

Thyra received an Associates Degree in Business and a Bachelor's Degree from Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL in Christian Ministry and Counseling.  Thyra attended All Saints Lutheran Church in Fox Lake, IL and Joyful Harvest Church in Johnsburg, IL.  She was an ordained minister.   Thyra was very passionate helping people in recovery and outreach programs, encouraging people and started a Facebook page, Growing in his Image.  She was extremely passionate about her faith.  She enjoyed spending time with her animals, gardening, plants and crafting.  She volunteered at food pantries and her churches.  Her family was her greatest joy.

Thyra is survived by:  her husband, Cody; her mother and stepfather, Judy and Steve Russell of Spring Grove, IL; her father and stepmother, Ronald and Audrey Bauman of Genoa City, WI; 2 stepchildren, Jenny (Joven-Song) Vathananand of Volo, IL and Cody Matney of Winthrop Harbor, IL; 5 step grandchildren, Angelina, Amaya, Anthony, Mateo and Maddux.

Thyra was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Lee Bauman on October 30, 1999.

A Celebration of Life and Potluck will be held at 2:00PM Sunday October 28, 2018 at Joyful Harvest Church, 5050 Wilmot Rd.
