IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Timothy "Tim"
H. Brellenthin
December 4, 1945 – September 2, 2024
Timothy Harold (Tim) Brellenthin passed into eternal glory on September 2, 2024.
Born December 4, 1945, in Madison, WI, he was adopted by George and Mary (Amann) Brellenthin in August of 1946. Tim grew up in a few different homes, attending East Delavan and Como grade schools, and enjoyed the country life. Tim graduated from Elkhorn Area High School in 1964. While in high school, Tim excelled in sports, playing football (quarterback) and baseball for the Elkhorn Elks. A devastating leg injury ended his high school sports career, but better things were coming.
His senior year, Tim took an "easy A" class in typing. He excelled due to his many years of piano and organ lessons (his mom Mary was the First Lutheran Church organist for almost 50 years). When Moon Mullen called the high school to have them send their best typist, Gerry Neinfeldt sent Tim. Tim worked for Walworth County Abstract Company through graduation from high school. After graduation, Tim joined the National Guard. Tim continued to work for Walworth County Abstract Company until 1970. It was then that Bob Kinney from down the street at Walworth Security Title Company hired Tim. In 1976, Tim and Roger Manley purchased the company from Bob's family. Tim and Roger were partners for years until Roger's retirement, and Rick Anderson then joined Tim at Security Title Company. Rick and Tim worked together for over 10 years until Tim then bought out Rick. The "Security Title Gang" was truly a family and Tim, Roger and Rick made sure to reward their employees with amazing Christmas parties, fun employee get-togethers, generous bonuses and profit sharing. Tim knew his success was through the hard work of his employees and wanted to share a part of it with them. Tim sold Security Title to Chicago Title Insurance Company in 2001. Tim shared his expertise for a couple years and then retired from the title business.
During his professional years and retirement, Tim never stopped giving back to his community. Tim continued to share his knowledge of Walworth County by being elected to the Walworth County Board of Supervisors, serving on many committees. Tim also served on the Elkhorn Area School Board for almost 20 years. He was so proud to be able to hand his daughters their diplomas. Tim was a member of the Wisconsin Land Title Association when he owned Security Title. He was known to be one of the best Title Examiners in Wisconsin and was honored to serve as President of the Association from 1994-1995. Tim was a member of Elkhorn Rotary Club for over 50 years. He received a Service Above Self Award and was honored to be a Paul Harris Fellow. Tim was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elkhorn his entire life and served on many committees and was elected President numerous times. He led the major building project in the late 1990's which added the gymnasium and expanded facilities.
Tim married Danielle (Dani) Schumann on November 6, 1965. They lived on Wandawega Lake for 10 years before building a family home on the north end of the Wandawega subdivision. Tim and Dani had two girls, Laina and Nicole (Nici). His family, whom he worked so hard, and accomplished so much, for. After moving to the new house, Laina and Nici would fight over who got to make dad's hot dog lunch when he came home from work on Saturdays. Gourmet cooks that they were, Nature's Seasons in the water always made them taste better! His greatest treasures, though, were his grandkids, Emma, Sarah, and Alex Timothy. Papa always had them on his mind and always made sure they knew he loved them and he was there for any need. Major renovations were done to their home to accommodate the family needs. The last renovation included an inground pool as the grandkids "needed" it.
Family trips to Walt Disney World will always be remembered. These trips were "no holds barred." This was family time and we were going to have the best dang time at the happiest place on earth!
Tim took up the game of golf through his father in law, John Schumann and John's best friend, Lee Polk. He and Dani played on a couples league for a number of years and Tim on Evergreen's Tuesday Night Men's League for years. Tim was a 50 year charter member of Evergreen Golf Club. When Geneva National was being developed, Security Title completed the titlework and Tim was an original member of Geneva National Golf Club. Tim played in 12 Greater Milwaukee Open Pro-Am's. Tim was blessed to be able to travel to the U.K. and play at St. Andrew's. He attended The Masters in Augusta and played at Pebble Beach. He traveled to Las Vegas with a group of friends a number of years to play many courses in the area. Tim had a gift for memorizing a course when he played it. He shared his love of the game with his girls and then his grandkids, taking them on special golf weekend getaways. No one ever had to write down a score - Tim would keep everyone's score in his head. Father's Day Family Golf was a yearly tradition. It was then that he got to see his grandson Alex score a hole in one in 2017!
Tim loved to watch golf, as well as the Packers and our Wisconsin Badgers. Tim made it to quite a few Packer games and was a group season ticket holder for Badger basketball for years.
Tim was truly a self-made man. Quiet, unassuming, you would never know that he was so successful. Tim was the most humble man. He sat back quietly, but was always watching. He loved to people watch. Although successful, he never kept it for himself. He was always there to help (help, not a hand-out) for family, friends, or acquaintances. Anyone he saw that he could help to ease a financial pain in order for their gain, he offered help, no strings attached, and no one would know. He was also a gift to his church and to Lakeland Animal Shelter. The advancement of their buildings and missions would not have been possible without him.
Tim was always dressed in a plaid button down shirt or a solid color golf polo. He only wore jeans (black) when it was lawn mowing day. Even then, he still wore a collared shirt. Even his Christmas Day celebration sweater was plaid. His family always wanted to get him t-shirts or sweatshirts that
said "Best Papa Ever." He would never wear anything like that. Even his Corvette logo wear had to be subtle.
Tim's well-deserved "treat to himself" was his Corvettes. He learned a lot about buying used Corvettes and having work done on them. He learned so much that, for the last 20 years, he only bought new ones. He loved driving during Corvette season and would only "punch it" when absolutely necessary.
Tim is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife of almost 59 years, Dani, his daughters, Laina (Mark) Papenfus, Nici (Kevin) Papenfus, his grandchildren Emma (Alex Tomter), Sarah (Michael) Staven, and Alex Timothy, and his newest pride and joy, great-grandson, Finn Alan Staven. His buddy, Emmett, and goofy girl, Zelda will miss him as well. He is further survived by his nephew DJ (Becky) Eberhardt and their boys, Jacob, Mason, Nicholas and Christopher, and bonus nephew, Cody Balsamo, his brother David (Judy) and their girls, Cindy, Renae, and their youngest, Michelle (Shell) who treasured her Uncle Tim, and an aunt, Liz Amann. He is further survived by many cousins, great nieces, and great nephews. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, in laws John and Elenor Schumann, sister-in-law Sunny Eberhardt, granddaughter Margaret Anne, and many family pets.
Tim had an extremely dry sense of humor and could always be counted on for a laugh. During his many hospital stays, he never lost that sense of humor and nurses would rush in when we would all be laughing so hard wondering what could possibly be so funny. It was Tim.
