Virginia "Ginny" L. Smith, 82 of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Mercy Walworth Hospital. She was born August 19, 1941, the daughter of the late Robert and Jeanne (Davis) Smith.  Ginny graduated from Franklin College in Indiana and taught high school Physical Education in Rolling Meadows, IL for over 30 years. She loved living by the lake, hosting friends, long road trips by car, and had many beloved cats throughout her life.

Ginny is survived by her brother-in-law, Thomas Bergsland, three nieces: Kristin (Tim) Caffrey, Erica (Jack Goodnow) Bergsland and Emily (Robert Warren) Bergsland, nephew, Peter (Lauren) Bergsland, many great nieces, great nephews, and dear friend, Sister Mary Kay Donovan.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Kay Bergsland.

The family wishes to thank Ginny's friends and neighbors whose care and support allowed her to continue living in her home. Memorials may be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, the Lakeland Animal Shelter, or the charity of your choice. Private family services were held.
