Elkhorn: Wayne J. Stearns age 88 of Elkhorn, WI died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday September 21, 2014. Wayne was born on August 11, 1926, son of the late Archie and Mabel (Ketchpaw) Stearns in Elkhorn, WI. Wayne was married to his wife Jayne on June 26, 1948 until the time of her passing in 2009. Wayne has been a resident of Elkhorn all of his life, and enjoyed playing in golf leagues, and volunteering at the local food pantry. He was a member at the Community Church of Elkhorn, and a proud veteran of the Navy. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 62 years Jayne, and several brothers and sisters. Wayne is survived by his two children; Dianne Batchelder of Delavan, and Debra (Kurt) Maly of Delavan; One granddaughter; Kathryn (Daniel) Irmen of Woodbury, MN; one great grandchild, Taylor Irmen; and one sister, Kathryn Stearns. A visitation will be held for Wayne at the Community Church of Elkhorn 4654 Briggs Road, Elkhorn, WI from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Friday September 26,2014; Followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM officiated by Rev. Robert Peiffer. Wayne will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery of Tibbets after the funeral service. In lieu of flowers the family has asked memorials to be made in Wayne's name to the Diabetes Association or Crohn's Association.
