Werner E. Klug, 91 of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Lakeland Health Care Center. He was born in Kenosha on September 14, 1934, the son of Otto and Selma “Lottie” Klug. Werner was raised in Burlington, where he graduated from Burlington High School in 1952. Shortly after, he went on to learn the Iron Working trade—a profession he took immense pride in and dedicated his entire working life to.

On April 7, 1956, Werner was united in marriage to Beverly Klemp at St. Francis de Sales Church in Lake Geneva. Together they shared a lifetime of love and devotion. They were just shy of celebrating a monumental 70th wedding anniversary this April, which stands as a profound tribute to the life and family they built together.

In addition to Werner’s career as an ironworker, his craftsmanship extended far beyond the job site. Werner spent countless hours remodeling every room of the family home, a quiet, constant reflection of his dedication and care for those he loved. There was nothing Werner couldn’t fix.

When he wasn’t working with iron or wood, Werner could be found in the garage. He had a lifelong passion for antique automobiles—restoring them with a perfectionist’s touch and enjoying them out on the open road. Whether he was under a hood or behind the wheel, he found true joy in the hum of a well-tuned engine.

A true sportsman and a master of the outdoors, Werner was never happier than when he was breathing in the fresh air. Whether he was meticulously tending to his perfectly manicured lawn - a source of quiet pride - or braving the frozen lakes to go ice fishing with his boys, he found peace in the elements.

His spirit and loyalty shone bright in the stands, where he was the ultimate fan, never missing a chance to cheer on his kids or his grandkids at their games, or root for his beloved Wisconsin teams!

He leaves behind a legacy of early mornings on the ice, sunny afternoons in the yard, and a deep, unwavering love for his family and his home.

Werner is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, five children: Vicki Behling, Jill (Dale) Rehberg, Tim (Pam) Klug, Terry (Julie) Klug, and Jeff (Carmen) Klug. Fourteen grandchildren: Trisha (Kelly), Eric (Jess), Jessica, Scott, Justin (Dana), Casey (Steven), Jake R. (Kathleen), Nate (Kaley), Mitch (Merin), Nick (Maddie), Jake K., Tanner, Sydnee, and Tucker, three step grandchildren: Neal, Noah (Courtney), and Nate (Nicole). Eleven great-grandchildren: Keegan, Karsen, Katelyn, Carter, Jackson, Kasyn, Kenzie, Alton, Collins, Madden, and Bauer, six step great-grandchildren: Kami, Chase, Parker, Reese, Brooks, and Colter, along with sister-in-law, Joyce Kennedy; and cousin, Mo Klug.

Werner was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Paul and Annette Klemp; brother, Bob Klug; grandson, Kyle Reich; brother-in-law, James Kennedy; and other family members that went before him.

The Klug family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Lakeland Health Care Center for their daily care and compassion.
