IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William "Bill"
Charles Liner
September 25, 1932 – March 21, 2023
William "Bill" C. Liner, age 90, of Elkhorn, WI, died at home on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Bill was born on September 25, 1932, son of the late Delbert A. and Anna Ruth (Morrison) Liner. When Bill was stationed at the United States Air Force Radar Base on Hwy 67 south of Elkhorn, he met the love of his life, Marlene Heusser. Bill and Marlene were married on the 25th wedding anniversary of her parents on January 8, 1952 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Elkhorn, WI. They were married for 68 years until the time of her passing in July of 2020. Over the years Bill took on many jobs; he worked in plumbing with Southern Lakes, Flitcroft's, and Nowak's. He spend some time working for the Elkhorn Public Works, and Heusser Heavy Haulers. He bartended for the Dunham Family back when they had the bar downtown; which is where he made many of his acquaintances. He also worked as a starter for Lake Lawn Resort of the golf course. Anyone who knew Bill would know his quick wit for a good laugh, and that he always had a joke that could make anyone laugh. He took on many interests over the years, such as his southern cooking recipes, biscuits and gravy, and cornbread. He was a 65 year member of the Elkhorn American Legion, and a 30 year member of the Elkhorn Fire Department. Bill enjoyed playing horseshoes, fishing, golfing, and achieving a hole in one at Delbrook Golf course. He had bowled in many leagues and enjoyed bowling for 50 years or better. Bill was always up for a road trip, camping trip, or just stopping at a rummage sale to see what was available. He spent many hours on hunting and fishing expeditions, and also enjoyed going out and 4-wheeling with his nephew, Mike. Bill could always be found during happy hour, usually telling a joke while adding a little bit of salt to his beer. If there was ever a thing as a BS club, Bill would be a founding member. Bill served in the United States Air Force, and was very proud of the service he offered to his country. To return the favor, he was chosen to participate in The Stars and Stripes Honor Flight in 2016, and Vets Roll in 2019.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife; parents; and siblings; Bettye, and Andrew "Jack". He is survived by his children; Vicki (Mike) Lange, Gary (Kathy) Liner, Rick (Jill) Liner, Jeff (Pam) Liner, all from Elkhorn; grandchildren; Rachel (Roger) Person, Melissa (Christopher) Clopper, Amanda (Aaron) Rowley, Natalie (Ryan) Schroeder, Drew Liner, Rochelle (Kyle Komplin) Liner, Alan Liner; step-grandchildren; Kim Kelnhofer and Matt Kutz; further survived by 9 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
