Ann was a teacher - in life and by profession. Born and raised on a dairy farm in Fond du Lac, she attended Carroll University in Waukesha and graduated with a BS in Chemistry in 1964. While at college she met and married her husband, Tony in 1963. Their first child, Laurie was born in the summer of 1964.
Ann began her teaching career at Tremper High School in Kenosha. In 1966 the family moved to Monroe where Ann continued teaching and had their second daughter, Lynn. Following her husband to Lake Geneva in 1972, Ann took a job at Delavan-Darien High School where she taught chemistry, math, and was department head in both academic areas. During her tenure in Delavan, she earned a master’s degree in education from Carthage College in Kenosha. Ann retired from the Delavan school district in 1999.
Ann was honored with numerous awards and academic accolades. She was twice named DDHS teacher of the year. Additionally, she was a math and science advisor to the Board of Regents at the University of Wisconsin. As a pioneer in advanced placement studies at the high school level, she was the second teacher in the state to offer AP chemistry.
Following retirement from DDHS, she worked at WALCOMET and taught at New Chance school in Elkhorn. Ann was deeply involved with her church, volunteered at the Elkhorn Food Pantry, and was an active member of several book and bridge clubs.
