Blanche Novy Obituary

Blanche Anna Novy, 95 of Elkhorn, WI relinquished her reign on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Whitewater, WI. Born on August 5, 1927 in Chicago, IL she was originally named Anna Raisl. Shortly after her birth, her mother decided the name Blanch suited her better which transpired a legacy of different names adopted by Blanche including spelling her name with an “e”, along with being dubbed “The Bear,” and “The Queen.”

She was the heir of the late Anton and Emma (Rabshutz) Raisl, fifth in line to the throne. At the young age of twelve, she became a proud aunt who adored her nephew, Billy O’Neill. Blanche’s fairytale continued when she married the love of her life, Arthur R. Novy, on June 19, 1948 in Cicero, IL. After several years of marriage, they started a family. Blanche was the most devoted mother to her children and the neighborhood kids; specifically, Gerry Kash who was her unofficially adopted son.

Blanche dedicated her time to volunteering for several organizations, especially Meals on Wheels. As a member of the First Congregational-United Church of Christ of Elkhorn, WI, her favorite event was baking for the annual Holiday Cookie Sale. Outside of church, Blanche participated in many bowling leagues at Two Season’s that traveled to local, state, and national tournaments. Additionally, she enjoyed many years of playing Bunco with the neighbor ladies around Lauderdale Lakes.

Blanche was our best friend, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She ruled our hearts from Day 1 and took every ounce of care to make sure that all of our childhoods were filled with the best of memories. She had a love for baking and enthusiastically enjoyed passing on her skills to her granddaughters. The Queen cherished every second she spent with her family. Some of her most fond memories were spent taking family trips to the Wisconsin Dells. During the school year, she was consistently involved in her granddaughters’ school functions. Each year, without fail, her granddaughters always chose her as their annual VIP (Very Important Person) at their local elementary school’s special day.

The Queen’s true love in life was her family - she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who will be greatly missed by her two children: Darrell Novy, of Elkhorn, WI and Sharon Novy of Whitewater, WI, and her two beloved granddaughters Samantha and Amanda, her adoring grandpup, Scout, and her nephew, Billy O’Neill and wife, Pauline. Blanche was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years Arthur R. Novy, two sons: Arthur “Sparky” Novy Jr. and Ronald Novy, along with three sisters and one brother.
