Charles L. Piester

Charles Laverne. Piester: 93, of Elkhorn, WI died Thursday April 13, 2023 at his son’s home James Piester of Lake Geneva, WI.  Charlie was born December 7, 1929 in Alliance, Nebraska; he was the son of the late Charles Lawrence Piester and Emily (Buchanan) Piester. Charlie grew up in Nebraska and had many great stories about life when he was a kid.  He served in the U.S. Navy and served his duty on the USS Brush DD-745 Destroyer from 1948 until 1952.  Charlie was married to Kathleen L (Bailey) Piester they married in 1980 and shared 42 years of marriage. Charlie previously was united in marriage to Mary Dawn Cooney on 02/21/1953  in Chicago Il. Dawn passed away on 01/11/2019. Charlie worked in manufacturing, he was a plant manager for Oak Mfg of Elkhorn, WI and later worked for MPC in Walworth. Charlie retired at the age of 79.  He enjoyed being up north hunting and fishing, he was an amateur radio operator and he enjoyed building his deck, gazebo and garden shed among many other projects. Charlie was a handy man indeed.  He will be greatly missed by his wife Kathleen, Kathy’s sister June and husband Bob Hamilton, his four children: Susan Akright 69 residing in Wiscconsin Dells WI, Gwendelynn Peace 67 Sacramento CA, James Piester 66 Lake Geneva WI, Daughter in law Marianna Piester 55 of Lake Geneva, WI. and Gerald Piester 61 of Sacramento CA. Grandchildren Rachael Akright, Michael and Cody Piester. Great Grandchildren Sabina Akright and Mackenzie Piester.

Charlie is survived by his sister Gloria Martinez of Denver, CO and by a host of other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by three sisters: Marla, Blanch and Gayle, two brothers: Vaughn and Don.  Graveside service with military honors will be held at East Lawn Cemetery Beloit, WI. on April 20, 2023 at 11:00 am.  A Celebration of Life will be held at later date with details to follow.
