Dennis Harold Duesterbeck, 68, of Elkhorn, WI died Sunday January 22, 2017 at University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.  He was born on October 22, 1948, at Lakeland Hospital in Elkhorn, WI, The son of the late Harold and Lillian (Kline) Duesterbeck.  He attended Dunham School for 7 years and then one year at Park School and attended Delavan-Darien High School.  He also attended a 2 year short course program at UW Madison and received an Associate Degree at Gateway in Agriculture.

 

   In 1978 he married his best friend Cathy Holman and they were blessed with 38 years of marriage.  Together they had three wonderful daughters; Lindsey, Leslie and Laura as well as two great sons-in-law Chris and Ben.  On March 27, 2005, Dennis received a heart transplant which gave him the opportunity to know his eight grandsons and two granddaughters.  All of his girls live in Delavan, WI which enabled Dennis to be part of many, many family events. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by his wife and family.

 

     Dennis was baptized, confirmed and a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Delavan his whole life.  He was involved in 4-H, pork producers, FFA and FFA Alumni.  He had a true passion for the field of agriculture which was reflected in his career choices of farming, animal food nutritionist as well as an insurance agent.  His big love, besides his family, was the Walworth County Fair where he served on the Board for 22 years and is currently the Secretary of the Walworth County Fair Foundation.

 

Dennis is survived by his wife Cathy, his children; Lindsey Duesterbeck, Leslie (Chris) Pelnar, and Laura (Ben) Johnson; ten grandchildren Makai Johnson, Reese Pelnar, Grace Johnson, Jackson Pelnar, Trae Johnson, Beckett Pelnar, Scout Pelnar, Amari Johnson, Boden Johnson and Rosealee Johnson He is also survived by three brothers ; Ronald (Deborah) Duesterbeck, David (Denise) Duesterbeck and William (Jean) Duesterbeck, one brother-in-law; Roger (Joan) Holman, one sister-in-law; Kristin (Michael) Steffel, many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.  

 

Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Monday January 30, 2017 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 416 W. Geneva Street Delavan, WI with Rev. Timothy M. Ritter officiating.  Visitation will be 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Church on Sunday, and on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of service.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Dennis’s name to: Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or Walworth County Fair Foundation PO Box 286 Elkhorn, WI.  On-line guestbook is at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.  The Duesterbeck family was assisted by Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory Elkhorn, WI.
