Dorothy "Dottie" Ann Simes, 91 of Elkhorn, WI, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center. She was born November 28, 1929 in Maywood, IL, the daughter of the late Aaron and Dorothy (Sauerberg) Armstrong. Dorothy was united in marriage to Gale W. Simes on October 6, 1951 in Whitewater, WI. Gale preceded her in death on February 14, 2021. Dorothy was a member of the Briggs Road Evangelical Free Church. She served as secretary at church for many years and volunteered with the Elkhorn Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels. Dorothy was an avid collector. She started volunteering at Lakeland Hospital where she later was promoted to Director of Volunteers and served for over 20 years until her retirement. Throughout the years, Gale and Dorothy enjoyed camping at various state parks. Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Dorothy is survived by her four sons; Doug (Lynn) Simes of Elkhorn, WI, Derf Simes of FL, Scott Simes of Elkhorn, WI, and Mark (Kathy) Simes of Hayward, WI, five grandchildren; Kristin (Joe), Alicia (Ryan), Matt (Katie), Nick (Kacy) and Kimberly (Dick), six great-grandchildren; Peyton, Kinsley, Waverly, Chase, Taylor and Molly and her two sisters; Sarah Wachter and Roberta Edwardson. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 69 years, Gale, daughter-in-law, Natalie Simes and her sister, Patricia Schroeder.
