Edward J. Jaske “Fast Eddie”, former owner of the Sandwich Hut in Elkhorn, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the age of 92 surrounded by his family. Born in Chicago in 1928, he earned the title of Catholic Youth League Boxing Champ, joined the Marines in 1946, was a WWII Veteran and attended DePaul University. He married Anne Taddeo on June 14, 1952 and together they raised five children Edward (Patti) Jaske, Michael (Terri) Jaske, Steven (Lisa) Jaske, Mary (Steven) Censky and Peter (Tiffany) Jaske.
He spent 28 years as a window trimmer for ABC Display prior to moving to Elkhorn and operating the Sandwich Hut with Anne for 23 years. Anne and Eddie retired to Lakeland Florida where Eddie also served as a crossing guard for 10 years. In 2018, Eddie was thrilled to be recognized for his WWII service by participating in an Honor Flight to Washington, DC.
Eddie is survived by his wife Anne, 4 children, 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Anne and Eddie recently celebrated 69 years of marriage. Eddie is preceded in death by his son Michael, sister Delores and his parents Edward and Lottie Jaske.
Funeral Mass will be 11:30AM on Friday, September 3, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 107 W. Walworth St. Elkhorn, WI with Father Oriol Regales officiating. Visitation will be 9:00AM until 11:00AM Friday at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory, 730 N. Wisconsin St. Elkhorn, WI. Interment will follow services at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 820 W. Court St. Elkhorn, WI.
