Edward C. Messerschmidt

Edward C. Messerschmidt, age 93, of Elkhorn, WI, passed away Friday November 17, 2017 at Ridgestone Terrace.  Ed was born in Delavan July 2, 1924, the son of the late Henry and Eva (Schaffitzel) Messerschmidt. He married Bonnie (Hubbard) Burson on May 29, 1949.  She preceded him in death on December 5, 1980.  Ed worked initially as a dairy farmer but later working as a carpenter with Zinzow construction of Elkhorn for many years and a short time for Trent Tube in East Troy.  Carpentry was his passion and the craftsmanship apparent in his many works will survive him for years to come being enjoyed by family, friends and others who never knew him.

Ed is survived by his seven children; Becky Kerr of Delavan, Barbara (Alvin) Kayser of Milton, Neil (Sandie) Messerschmidt of Edgerton, Ivan (Teresa) Messerschmidt of Elkhorn, Janet (Ken) Orth of Land-o-Lakes, FL, Mary (Steve) Pekul of Elkhorn and Eric (Chris) Messerschmidt of Elkhorn, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Leona (Jim) Acker of Surprise, AZ, many nieces, nephews and Charles Wallisch of Waukesha, WI, who has been like a son to him.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two children; Roland and Loren, two brothers; Dayton and Henry Jr. (Bid), four sisters; Katherine Habeck, Avis Hoffman, Beryl Davis and Dorothy Hoffman, two grandsons; Andrew Bulka and Dwayne Kayser and one great-granddaughter, Ashley Cooper.

Visitation will be 5:00PM to 8:00PM Tuesday November 21, 2017 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 730 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI.  Funeral Mass will be 11:30 AM Wednesday November 22, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church 107 W. Walworth Street Elkhorn, WI with Father Oriol Regales officiating.
