Esther (Riek) Sigmund

Esther Sigmund, 85 of Elkhorn, WI, died Monday June 15, 2020 at Ridgestone Terrace in Elkhorn, WI. She was born January 17, 1935, the daughter to the late Ed and Pearl (Schultz) Riek.  She graduated from East Troy High School.  Esther was united in marriage in 1965 to William L. Sigmund in East Troy, WI.  William preceded her in death on June 14, 2017 after 61 years of marriage.  Esther was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn, WI.  Esther worked as a teacher’s aide at Westside School, drove bus for Jones Bus Service and at Value Village of Elkhorn, WI.  She enjoyed playing cards and was involved with many card clubs but her all time favorite was playing Bingo and going to Potawatomi and other casinos.

Esther is survived by her two sons, Steven (Celeste) Sigmund of Finland, MN and Mark (Caryn) Sigmund of Rockford, IL, one daughter, Jean Sigmund of Elkhorn, six grandchildren; Danielle Sigmund, Stephanie (Alex) Nelson, Michael Thomson, Evan Sigmund, Jake and Kyle Rotta, and one great-granddaughter, Bria Nelson.  Her siblings: Louise Stafford of Sandy, OR, Betty Bauman and Joyce Bulow both of Burlington, WI. Larry “Butch” (Vi) Riek of AL, and Willy Riek of East Troy, WI and a host of other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, William, two sisters: Doris Bodden and Jeanette Kammeraad four brothers: Gordy, Ed, Terry and Robert “Red” Riek.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 107 W. Walworth St. Elkhorn, WI, with Fr. Oriol Regales officiating.  Visitation will be 9:30AM to 10:30AM on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory, 730 N. Wisconsin St. Elkhorn, WI.  Interment will follow services at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Elkhorn, WI.
