Francie (Heenan) Krick, 75 of Chicago and Lauderdale Lakes, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on March 9, 2021, thanks to the kindness of the Aurora Health at Home Hospice caregivers and ICU staff of Lakeland Hospital, Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
Francie was the loving wife for 47 years to the late Harold “Hal” J. Krick who passed in August 2019.
Francie was the cherished daughter of the late William and Gladys Heenan, and loving sister to Patricia (Heenan) O’Mahoney, the late William M. Heenan, Jr., the late Monica (Heenan) Gilmartin, Michael Heenan and Nora (Heenan) Woulfe. She was aunt to many adored nieces and nephews and to “great” nieces and nephews, her “kids.”
Francie was known for kindness to her “kids” never forgetting a card that would arrive on the day of their birthday and randomly leaving “smiley” cookies at their doorstep.
A graduate of Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin, Francie became a high school Spanish teacher for over 40 years. She taught at Stafford Springs High School in Connecticut, St. Francis DeSales in Chicago, and St. Francis of Wheaton. Señora Krick finished her career spending 24 years as a teacher at Nazareth Academy in LaGrange Park, Illinois, where she was beloved for her high standards of teaching and ability to produce true “Spanish speakers” who went on to higher education with emphasis in Spanish. Francie, who was born with cerebral palsy that was hidden from most people due to her graceful carriage and positive spirit, bore all challenges in silence and lived her life with exemplary strength. She will be sorely missed by us all.
A celebration of her life will be held later this year when all her friends and family can attend. Donations can be made in her name to:
Aurora Health at Home Hospice, mail donations to: 116 North Dodge Street, Suite 8, Burlington, WI 53105 or call +1 (262) 757-2587.
