Gerhardt Dallas Immega, 85, of Elkhorn, WI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 in his home surrounded by family. Gerry was born on October 23, 1936 in Elkhorn, WI, the son of the late Broer and Violet Immega along with his older brother, Jerome and younger brother, Lowell Immega. He is survived by his wife, Harriette, daughter, Cheryl (Timothy) Immega Neinfeldt, granddaughters, Emily and Madison and his brother, Jerome. He was preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother, Lowell and daughter, Barbara.
He was raised on the Urbandale Dairy Farm which he farmed his entire life. He retired from farming in 1990. Gerry graduated from Elkhorn High School in 1954. He was an active FFA member where he enjoyed raising animals and farming, performing in high school plays and musicals and playing basketball. After graduating from high school, Gerry graduated from UW-Madison with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Sciences. He went on to earn his MBA from UW-Whitewater.
Gerry has been a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church where he met and married Harriette Harley in 1960. They resided in Elkhorn, as well as the winter months in North Fort Myers, FL, and enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends. Gerry and Harriette loved traveling and camping with their 5th wheel camper to the Western US National Parks, on bus tours through Europe, and later in life, on Caribbean and Alaskan Cruises.
Gerry served as Mayor of Elkhorn for 12 years and previously worked as the City Administrator. He was very active at church, where he served in all capacities including choir member, lay leader, lay speaker, finance and trustee committees. Gerry had a single engine pilot license and enjoyed flying his friends and family to Canada and on various other trips. He worked as a missionary in Turkey with United Missionary Relief for 3 years. Gerry was an announcer of Holton Band Concerts and a member of the Holton Board. He was a member of the Walworth County Musicians Union, where he played guitar in a 3-piece trio for dances and events. Gerry served as a Vocational Industries board member. Gerry was a hunting enthusiast and hunted white-tailed deer in central Wisconsin, as well as on his land in Richland Center. He also hunted mule deer, elk and big horned sheep in Wyoming. Gerry loved photography, reading, nature and his Wisconsin Sport teams: Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers. He announced Tractor Pulls at Walworth County Fair, volunteered at Barnyard Adventure and was the recipient of the Life Time Achievement Walworth County Fair Award. Gerry was a member of the Jaycee’s, Golden Guernsey Youth Committee and Consumer’s Co-op Board.
Funeral Service will be 11:00AM on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church, 111 N. Broad St. Elkhorn with Pastor Anita Lang officiating. Visitation will be 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Monday, June 6, 2022 at First United Methodist Church and on Tuesday 10:00AM until service time with a luncheon immediately following. Interment will be 2:00PM on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Tibbets, WI. Online guest book at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.
