Gertrude Janet (Novak) Wincek, 96, of Salem, WI died late Monday night, September 14th, 2020 at Archwood Assisted Living in Salem. Trudy was born in Chicago, IL on June 24th, 1924 to the late Martin and Anna (Wujciga) Novak. She was united in marriage in 1947 to the late Orville Wincek at St. Mary of Celle Catholic Church in Berwyn, IL, they were married for 39 years until his passing in 1996, Trudy lived in Berwyn for 67 years.
Trudy was never one to sit around, living a very active life. Trudy worked as a bookkeeper for a law firm during her life, and after retirement, enjoyed going on cruises with her husband. She was a social butterfly who was full of energy who delighted in celebrations and summer fairs, even riding on all the rides with her beloved grandsons at carnivals and fairs. She also loved bowling, penny slots, going to the theater, and she was known for her frequent shopping trips to Kohl’s, her favorite department store. Trudy was a great cook, and she showered her family with gifts and with unwavering support and love.
Trudy is survived by her only son, Bob (Irina) Wincek, her grandsons Edwin and Bobby Wincek, and her former daughter-in-law, Sherry Wincek. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Edwin Martin Novak.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, September 19th 2020 from 9:00AM until the time of the funeral service at 9:30AM, at Haase Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, 620 Legion Dr., Twin Lakes, WI 53181. Private burial to follow at Queen of Hearts Cemetery. Haase Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Twin Lakes is assisting the Wincek family.
