Howard K. Powell, 98 of Elkhorn, WI, died Friday, January 1, 2021 at Holton Manor in Elkhorn, WI. He was born July 31, 1922 in Elkhorn, WI, the son of the late Elbert and Tina (Rowe) Powell. Howard served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He was united in marriage to Lois A. Perry on May 17, 1950 in Woodstock, IL. Howard owned and operated Powell’s Antique Shop in Elkhorn, WI. He was a life member of the Elkhorn VFW, American Legion Post 6375, Walworth County Stamp Club and Holton-Elkhorn Band. Howard attended the Vets Roll trip to Washington D.C. in May of 2015 and the Chicago Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in June of 2010. Howard played Taps for copious Veteran’s funerals from 1945 through the 1980’s in his free time. Howard is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Lois, his two daughters, Marguerite “Maggie” Powell of Waukegan, IL and Priscilla (Robert) Fleig of Cedar Hill, MO, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Marguerite Sieberg and Allen Powell.
Funeral service with military honors will be 12:00 PM (Noon) Wednesday January 6, 2021 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home, 730 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:30 AM until time of service. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memory Gardens in the Town of Delavan, WI.
