Joan J. Thompson McCool, 77 of Elkhorn, WI formerly of West Dundee, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Vintage on the Ponds in Delavan, WI. She was born June 21, 1940 in Elgin, the daughter of the late LeRoy and Leora (Gurke) Thompson. She lived in the Elgin-Dundee area most of her life. Joan was united in marriage to Curtis McCool in 1958. Joan was a member and past president of the Dundee Jaycettes and a member of the Dundee Scot Boosters. She co-owned the Squire Barber in Carpentersville, IL with her husband. Her greatest joys in life were her family and friends.
She is survived by her three children: Sean (Michelle) McCool of Bellevue, NE, Kelly (Tom Fritz) Hawkins of Elkhorn, WI, and Roark McCool of Genoa, IL, five grandchildren: Paul, Patrick, and Megan McCool of Bellevue, NE, Shahnnon and Heather Hawkins of Elkhorn, WI, one great-granddaughter, Phoenix McCool of Bellevue, NE, sister, Susan (John) Toomire of Huntley, IL, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Curtis McCool, her sister, Alice (Don) Rahn, her brother, Donald (Marilyn) Thompson and infant brother, LeRoy Jr. Thompson.
