John E. Finke, 62, of Elkhorn, WI, died Thursday January 13, 2022 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, WI after injuries sustained from a snowmobile accident. He was born May 4, 1959 in Burlington, WI, the son of the late Elmer A. and Helen V. (Knobloch) Finke. He graduated from Burlington High School with the Class of 1977. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison Agriculture short course. The family farm was John’s passion, where he raised crops and dairy cows for much of his life. In recent years, he was also employed as a truck driver and in the agriculture industry. John was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Burlington, WI. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and visiting family and friends. John loved to attend his grandchildren’s sporting and school events.
He will be deeply missed by his three daughters, Emily (Scott) Fleming of Avalon, WI, Marie (Dan) Cunningham of Black Creek, WI and Cassidy Finke of Reedsburg, WI and his five grandchildren, Owen and Mason Fleming, Avery, Macy and Beckett Cunningham. He is also survived by his siblings, David (Jolene) Finke of South Mills, NC, Paul (Shirley) Finke of Milltown, NJ, Dan Finke of Burlington, WI and Ruth Lanham (John) of Muskego, WI, and by a host of other relatives and friends. John was reunited in heaven with his parents, his brother, Tim Finke, and his son, Earl Finke.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 198 Westridge Avenue, Burlington, WI. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Kirk Lahmann officiating. Burial will be at Burlington Cemetery.
