Kathleen Clare (Donner) Oswald, age 83 of Richmond, IL was born in Chicago, IL on March 11, 1940, the daughter of the late Earl and Florence (Scheffler) Donner. On April 10, 2023, the day after Easter celebration, she left this temporary body and answered her Savior’s call to await the final resurrection alongside Jesus in His glory.
Everyone whose life Kathy touched, knew her to be cheerful, inspirational, charismatic, and couldn’t escape her servant heart which flowed from her profound and unwavering relationship with Jesus Christ. She traveled many times to the Holy Land leading tours and served in various capacities as a volunteer. She sang in the choirs, taught bible studies, and directed numerous special events.
Kathy loved her family. She drew upon a lifetime of happiness by pouring out her heart to serve and care for them. She was also outgoing, competitive, and especially enjoyed volleyball, swimming, fishing, and cheering for the Chicago Cubs.
Her first church home was Christ Lutheran Church on Chicago’s northwest side where she was baptized on April 21, 1940, confirmed March 29, 1953, and united in marriage on June 25, 1960, to the love of her life, Norman Oswald. Over the course of time, she was successively a beloved member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Addison, IL, Grace Lutheran Church in Bensenville, IL, Cross and Crown Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights, IL, and Hope Lutheran Church in Twin Lakes, WI.
She is survived by her loving husband Norman, son Timothy (Dawn) Oswald, daughters Jennifer (Todd) Wielgos, and Anna (Tony) Kmilek, son-in-law David Scarmardo, grandchildren Adam (Katie) Scarmardo, Lauren (Tim) Spagnoli, Andrew Scarmardo, Melissa (Josh) Walton, Nathan Oswald, Bethany (Isaac) Wirtz, Melanie (Alex) Clarke, Joseph Peterson, Kiki Peterson, Rachel Peterson, and Andreana Masters; twelve great-grandchildren; and brothers Phillip (Pam) Donner and Larry (Joyce) Donner. She was preceded in death by her infant brother Clifford Donner, her mother and father, and precious daughter JoEllyn Scarmardo, with all of whom, through common faith she now re-unites in the presence of Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held at Haase-Lockwood Funeral Home 620 Legion Dr. Twin Lakes, WI on Sunday, Apr 16th between 3:30pm and 7:30pm. There will also be visitation at Fellowship of Faith Lutheran Church at 6120 Mason Hill Rd. McHenry, Illinois 60050 on Monday, Apr 17th between 10:00am and 12:00pm with Christian Funeral at 12:00pm.
