Kenneth Stephen Schmitt

Kenneth Stephen Schmitt, 76 of Elkhorn, WI died Tuesday January 18, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.  Ken was born December 26, 1945 in Ringwood, IL the son of the late Steve and Estelle (May) Schmitt.  Ken graduated from Elkhorn Area High School with the Class of 1964; he then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison Agricultural short course.  He served as a Corporal with the US Marines with a tour of duty in Vietnam. Ken ran the family farm for many years retiring in 2004.  He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic church of Elkhorn, WI, Elkhorn FFA Alumni, former member of the Elkhorn Fire Department, and member of AMPI.  Ken always enjoyed having a beer with family or friends.  He is survived by his four sisters Louise Bleser of Elkhorn, WI, Sharon (Edward) Christensen of Antioch, IL, Janeen (Jerry) Mehring of Elkhorn, WI and Lisa (Daniel) Cooper of Elkhorn, WI, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.  Ken was preceded in death by an infant sister Emma, and brother-in-law Robert Bleser.  Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 AM Saturday June 25, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church 107 W. Walworth Street Elkhorn, WI , burial with full military honors will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Elkhorn, WI.  Then a visitation and a celebration of life will be held 12:30 PM at Evergreen Golf Club Elkhorn, WI.  Memorials may be made in Ken’s name to: Vets Roll 1777 Gardner Street S.
