Kenneth Schumacher Obituary

Kenneth Leroy Schumacher, 80, Twin Lakes passed away November 15, 2023 at Aurora Burlington Hospital. He was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on February 14, 1943 to the late Kenneth and Dora Schumacher. After graduating from Central High School in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Ken served in the US Navy from 1962-1966 as an Interior Communications Electrician while on board the USS Enterprise and USS America aircraft carriers.

Ken graduated from Stout State University in Menomonie, Wisconsin in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts. He taught junior high woodworking, graphic arts, and technology at Lance and McKinley Junior High Schools for 27 years in Kenosha, Wisconsin. On December 12,1970, Ken met and married the love of his life, Sheila Hagel in Menomonie, Wisconsin. They were married for 52 years. He is now at peace with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ken loved his family deeply and looked forward to family gatherings.  He taught Sunday school and AWANA at Community Baptist Church.  Ken enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren by attending their music, sport events and activities. He liked to go fishing and hunting, and take his family on camping trips.  He is so loved and will be missed by his family and all that knew him.

 Kenneth is survived by his wife, Sheila, children, and grandchildren. Renee (Michael) Sweeney, Kaitlyn and Owen. Caleb (Jenny) Schumacher, John, Joshua, and Brooke. Chris Schumacher, Leah and Andrew. Cyle (Barbara) Schumacher, Lucas and Lauren. Ken is also survived by his sister Carol (Jim) Wittig. Ken is further survived by nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Dora, his sister Doris (Charles) Nall, and brothers, David and Donald.

 Visitation will be held at 10:30 AM on November 22nd, 2023 at Haase-Lockwood Funeral Home 620 Legion Dr. Twin Lakes, WI. 53181 followed by the memorial at 11 AM. Committal services will be held at 1:00 PM at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Chaplain (CPT) Caleb Schumacher and Chaplain Larry Williams.

Words cannot express how deeply we appreciate all the love, kindness and support shown to us during this difficult time.  We are so thankful and it will always be remembered by the family of Ken Schumacher.  The family wold like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Lakeland and Burlington Hospitals, Holton Manor and Bay of Burlington for their care and compassion during his illness.  We would also like to thank the Twin Lakes, Burlington and Salem Rescue Squads.
