Loretta Marie Smith

Loretta M. Smith, age 97, of Twin Lakes, WI, passed away Friday afternoon, April 14, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

The former Loretta Marie Arnold was born on May 29, 1919 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Riley Arnold.  On July 26, 1947, in Chicago, IL, Loretta was united in marriage to Lloyd V. Smith.  Lloyd preceded her in death on July 29, 2011.  They lived in Chicago, IL and Crystal Lake, IL before moving to Twin Lakes 31 years ago.

Loretta formerly worked as a bookkeeper for the Chicago Housing Development.  She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Richmond, IL.  Loretta enjoyed reading, big band music and helping out at the LaSalette Shrine in Twin Lakes.  She also enjoyed during WWII, dancing at the local USO Club.  She really loved her family.

Loretta is survived by: her children, Mary Ellen Smith of Twin Lakes, WI, Patricia Ann (Eugene) Baseggio of Crystal Lake, IL, Michael Leslie (Donna) Smith of Rockford, IL, Rita Dawn (Thomas) Sullivan of Hebron, IL and Karen Marie (John) Bielas of Janesville, WI; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Thomas.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00AM Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Richmond, IL with Monsignor Martin Heinz officiating.  Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Memorial remembrances may be made in Loretta’s name to the Twin Lakes Food Pantry, 701 N. Lake Ave. Twin Lakes, WI 53181 or the Richmond Food Pantry5512 May Ave. Box 78, Richmond, IL 60071. The Haase-Lockwood & Assoc. Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the Smith Family.
