Louis "Louie" Vogt Obituary

Louis J. Vogt, 82 of Elkhorn, WI, died on Monday, February 8, 2021 at his home in Elkhorn, WI.  He was born January 16, 1939 in Lyons, WI, the son of the late George and Mathilde (Held) Vogt.  Louis was united in marriage to Michelle J. Kieffer on December 18, 1971 in Delavan, WI.  Louis was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Elkhorn. In addition to dairy farming between East Troy and Elkhorn, Louie was a livestock dealer for 65 years, specializing in the sale of goats, sheep and pigs. He enjoyed collecting unique animals for his personal barnyards, at one time having African Watusi bulls, Brahman bulls, Buffalo, Dutch Belted cattle, an emu, javelina and peccary wild boars, fainting goats, several alpaca, and a herd of Scottish Highland cattle. Louie would never turn down a game of Crocodile Dentist with the grandkids or fail to slip them a handful of Bit o’Honey or Chips Ahoy on their way out. He will be remembered for his love of old Western movies, comics, $2 bills, wearing the grandkids’ school spirit wear and asking “what’s new with you”.

Louis is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Michelle, three children; Kathleen Vogt of East Troy, WI, Rebecca (Michael) Miller of Elgin, IL, and Joseph (Breann) Vogt of Elkhorn, WI, and five grandchildren; Amelia, Jack and Ruby Miller, Anthony and Melaina Vogt. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers; George, Clarence, Philip, John, Charles and Stephen Vogt and three sisters; Marion Freeman, Bernice Yanke and Louise Vogt.

Private family funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Elkhorn, WI.  Inurnment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Elkhorn, WI.  Memorials may be made in Louie’s name to Aurora at Home Hospice.
