Paul Porter Darling, age 78 of Trevor, WI, died in his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Son of the late George and Mildred (LaFrain) Darling, Paul was born on March 16, 1943 in New Albany, MS. He was united in marriage to Janice Smith on the Fourth of July, 1977 in Bristol, WI. During his life, Paul formed his own band, Paul Darling and the Country. He played drums and sang with a voice people would come from miles around to hear. In his younger days he also played drums for Willie Nelson. Paul’s happy place was his and Jan’s Northwoods property—the second love of his life, after Jan of course. Paul was a devoted husband and father, and a loving Papaw.
Paul is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jan; his children, Steven (Kelly) Darling of Topak, AZ, Kevin Darling of Salem Lakes, WI, Adam Darling of Salem Lakes, WI, and Jeremiah (Crystal) Darling of Knox, IN; brother C.D. Wells of Memphis, TN; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A note from Jan: “I would never have been able to care for my husband without the professional help of Hospice Alliance. They made the process otherwise unbearable, endurable through their emotional and professional support. Please make this possible for others by sending memorial donations to Hospice Alliance in lieu of flowers. Hospice Alliance 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158.”
