Peggy Jean (Babcock) Slack

Peggy J. Slack, age 85, Passed away peacefully on Sunday morning April 16, 2023 surrounded by her family at Kindred Hearts of Elkhorn where she has lived for the last 6 years.  Peggy was born January 26, 1938 in Elkhart Indiana, She was the daughter of the late Wallace V. and Eleanor (Huster) Babcock. She moved to Elkhorn where she married and raised her family. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker Peg sewed her children’s clothes, doll clothes and household items.  She was a talented artist and crafter as well. She shared these talents with the 4 H Club children of Elkhorn and Walworth County in the especially in the areas of cooking, baking but let her talents showed through in the Fine Arts and Drama making costumes for their many plays. She also made the first ever Elk mascot costume for Elkhorn High School. Peg was always known for being full of fun. Longtime resident of Elkhorn she worked at Frank’s Grocery in the bakery and deli department for many years happily serving her neighbors. Faithful member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Geneva she was also very active in the women’s group at Church. Peggy will be greatly missed by her loving family who include her 6 children; Jeff (Dee) Slack of Elkhorn WI, Ronda (Gary) Davis of Sharon WI, Roxi (Mark) Steinfest of Elkhorn WI, Joan (Bob) Czosnyka of Pell Lake WI, Jean Slack of Elkhorn WI, Rita (Mike) Kahl of Walworth WI. 8 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. She is survived by her two sisters Ruth (Ramert) Carlson and Carol (Tom) Collins, and many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.  Visitation will be 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday April 23, 2023 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 730 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI, and on Monday 10:30 am until time of the funeral service at 11:00 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church 1101 Logan Street Lake Geneva, WI.  Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery Lake Geneva, WI.
