Philip S. Marshall passed away on March 17, 2024 after a year and a half battle against pancreatic cancer. He was 65. Phil was born April 11, 1958, and raised in Chicago, Illinois to Paul and Margaret (Shimanek) Marshall. He graduated from Brother Rice High School, where he excelled as an athlete, earning opportunities to play soccer at the collegiate and semi-professional levels in the Chicagoland area. He met Marianne Davis and married her in July 1985. In their early days of marriage, the pair enjoyed rides throughout the countryside on Phil’s motorcycle and attended auctions, collecting old radios and cameras. While Phil had a successful career as a telecom sales representative, his greatest achievement was as a Dad to his four children and Pop-Pop to Maeve. Phil took immense pride watching his children grow and accomplish their academic and athletic goals. As a dedicated father, Phil rarely missed a school celebration or athletic competition. He was often found on the sidelines of a child’s soccer game, cross-country meet, or regatta. For the past few years, he and Marianne settled in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, and the two enjoyed fishing, watching sunsets, and the slower pace of lake life together.
He was preceded in death by his father Paul, uncle Tom (Jean) Quigley, and father-in-law Leonard Davis.
Phil is survived by his wife Marianne, sons Andrew (Sarah Marikar); and Daniel; daughters Michelle (Andrew Hayes); and Maribeth; and granddaughter Maeve. Further survived by his mother, Margaret; brother Paul (Kathy); sisters Pam (Larry) Gross; and Pat (Kevin) Kopping; in-laws Patricia (Alexander) Kapocius; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Phil’s life at a later date at the Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home in Twin Lakes, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Keeney Foundation, 172 Homestead Drive, South Windsor, CT 06074.
