Robert Hoyoss Obituary

Robert Moen Hoyoss, age 90, of Pell Lake, WI, died on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Oakridge Care Center in Union Grove, WI. Son of the late Harold and Wilma (Moen) Hoyoss, Bob was born on June 14, 1931, in Chicago, IL. On May 8, 1954, Bob was united in marriage to Jean Oquist in Chicago. About five years later, the couple moved to Pell Lake, where they built their own home with a hand saw and raised their family. Bob had many careers throughout his life—in his early years he worked in the accounting field, and was later the manager of Honey Bear Farm in Powers Lake. In 1992, he retired from his job of over twenty years as a purchasing agent for the chemical company, Rohm & Haas. A people-person through and through, Bob liked talking to and helping anyone, even serving on the school board and the church council.  Bob was a skilled woodworker who handcrafted furniture and wall lanterns that are still used and beloved by his family. He was known for his meticulous care of his house and yard, was an avid Chicago Bears fan, loved western movies, and enjoyed vacationing “Up North” where he would fish. Near the end of his life, Bob’s great-grandchildren were his greatest joy and they could always get a smile out of him. Bob was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Pell Lake.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jean Hoyoss; children Lynn (Timothy) Allen, Diane (James) Koelbl, and Scott Hoyoss; grandchildren, Sarah (Eric) Yanke, Jordan (Kyle Ripple) Allen, and Allie (Dylan) Talerico; and great-grandchildren; Cole, Jack, and Emma Yanke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Wilma Hoyoss; and his brother, Harold Hoyoss.

In following Bob’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital online at stjude.org/donate or by mail to St. Jude Honors, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
