Ruth Clark Obituary

Ruth Marie Clark, 89 of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at her home in Elkhorn, WI. Ruth was born on April 22, 1931 in Princeton, Minnesota, the daughter of Herman Carl Hammel & Florence Lillian Lindell Hammel. When Ruth was 6 years old she came with her family to Southeastern Wisconsin. Ruth graduated from Elkhorn High School in 1949. She worked for the State Probation & Parole Office & the National Food Store. Ruth married the love of her life, Rulo, on March 29, 1952 in Elkhorn Wisconsin. Rulo passed away on March 9, 2004, and they farmed in Sugar Creek Township on Taylor Road for all of their 52 years together. This is where they raised their four children. Ruth continued to live on the farm, she loved the farm life. Ruth was a long time member of the Bethel United Methodist Church on the corner of Highway 12 and County Road A. She was a lay leader, lay member to annual conference, Administrative Council and many other teams and committees. Her church relationships where very important to her. Ruth was an active 4-H Leader for over 40 years. She was a Photography Leader for the Sugar Creek 4-H Club for 23 years and in charge of the Junior Photography and judging at the Walworth County Fair. A member of the Sr. Leaders’ Association, Awards Committee and judged photography at the state level. She was an active member of the Walworth County Farm Bureau and was Secretary of the Women’s Committee, on the Dairy Committee and longtime Chair and Co-Chair. Former member of the Millard Aires-Homemakers, Walworth County Young Homesteaders, and Saturday Afternoon Card Club. Ruth worked at the Sugar Creek Polls for many years. Ruth was an avid Packer Fan, when the games where on it is known that she could get pretty vocal about the action happening! Watching her children & grandchildren participate in sports and school activities was a highlight in her life. Ruth has many hobbies that she enjoyed over the years, such as, collecting thimbles, cardinals, toothpick holders, ceramic chickens and music boxes. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, and photography. When Ruth was not busy with any of the many things she was involved in, she found time to go on two hot air balloon rides in the Lake Geneva area!

Ruth is survived by her Children; Jim (Debbie) Clark, Elkhorn, (Jon) Kevin Clark, Arpin, Susan Clark, Elkhorn, and Kari Clark, Milwaukee. Grandchildren: Cory Landreman, Racine, Ryan Landreman (Fiancé Jessalyn Knapp), Elkhorn, Rachel (Pat) Schmuhl, Arpin, Jill (Nick) Musgrove, Elkhorn, Ben (Katie) Clark, Elkhorn, and Kelly (Craig) Guthrie, Elkhorn, and Honorary Grandmother to Lindsey Duesterbeck. Great Grandchildren: Clayton, Harper, & Gabby Landreman, Elliot & Maddex Knapp, Hadley & Libby Landreman, Isabella & Cameron Schmuhl, Jory & Raven Musgrove, Nathan & Natalie Clark, & Lexi, Cheyenne, Allen, & Chase Guthrie; brother and sister–in-law, George & Rita Wyatt, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her church family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rulo, brothers Robert & Harry, sister Phyllis Jebens, brother-in-law Lester Jebens, Sister-in-law, Joyce Hammel, and Daughter-in-law Mary Jo Clark.

At this time, the family would like to thank Jessalyn Knapp and Hospice for all your loving care and thoughtfulness, not only to Ruth but to her family also!

A funeral service will be held on 11:30AM on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory, 730 N. Wisconsin St. Elkhorn, WI 53121. Visitation will be 3:00PM to 7:00PM on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the funeral home and 10:30AM on Friday until service time.  Online guest book available at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.  Arrangements for Clark Family were completed by Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory.
