Sandra Moss Obituary

On August 24, 2021, Sandy succumbed to a short-term illness in the comfort of her home.

She was the daughter of the late Wesley and Edna Krahn of Algonquin, IL.

Sandra was born in Elgin, IL on August 30, 1940, and grew up in Algonquin attending the Algonquin grade school before graduating from Dundee Community High School in 1958.

On February 7, 1959, she married the love of her life, William K. Moss, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Algonquin, IL. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage and twin daughters, Kathleen and Pamela. Sandy remained in Algonquin for several months following William’s enlistment in the United States Air Force. During that time, she was employed at Shake Proof of Elgin, IL. In May of 1959, they resided in Chandler, MN, their first posting. When William was transferred to England, Sandy returned to Algonquin and in September of 1960 gave birth to their twin daughters. She and their daughters relocated to Carswell AFB, Fort Worth, TX, in April of 1962, upon William’s return. Sandy and their daughters remained there during William’s various deployments overseas. In February 1967, the family returned to Algonquin where they remained until 1969, when they moved to Twin Lakes, WI.

Sandy was employed by Sentry Foods in Twin Lakes for 17 years. Expanding on her love of flowers and gardening, she attended Gateway Technical School for two years studying floral design and horticulture. Subsequent to that, she greatly enjoyed her final six years at Sentry as a floral designer. She had a special life-long love of sewing. She taught sewing to 4H members and made over 20 Nancy’s Weekend annual sewing gatherings in Beaver Dam, WI. Sandy made and donated countless doll clothes, scarves, gloves, mittens, and a variety of blankets for local charity organizations. In her spare time, she delivered Meals on Wheels in the Twin Lakes region. Sandy was also a seven-year member of Curves in Twin Lakes before transferring to Paddock Lake.

Foremost of all her many accomplishments was her dedication to and love of family. Sandra practiced quality time long before it became a cliché. The family journeyed to Kentucky Lake, KY annually for 20 years enjoying boating and water skiing. As a family, they travelled as often as schedules permitted. After William retired, they were fortunate enough to take numerous cruises and relax in Ft. Lauderdale, FL at their favorite hotel.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Wesley Krahn; and her beloved cat, Sammy.

Sandy is survived by her husband, William; their twin daughters, Kathleen and Pamela Moss of Twin Lakes; and Buster the cat.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. K. Cassidy and staff, hospice RNs Jill, Lori, Molly, and CNA Sara for all their wonderful care.
