Thomas Eugene Floren, age 75, of Elkhorn, WI, died on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Lakeland Medical Center. Son of the late Gilbert and Helen (Sadowski) Floren, Tom was born on April 10, 1946 in Chicago, IL. Tom proudly served in the United States Army from 1969 until 1972, where he attained the rank of sergeant and received the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal, and Bronze Star Medal. After his time in the service, Tom worked for General Motors for 25 years. He was also a proud union steel worker for another 20 years before retiring. Tom was a man of few words, unless he had something to say, and showed his love to his friends and family through acts of service and quality time spent together. A simple man who didn’t require much to be happy, Tom got fulfillment from caring for and providing adventures and fun experiences to those he loved. He especially loved family vacations--frequenting Florida, Indiana Beach, and the Wisconsin Dells. He enjoyed taking his mother out to try new restaurants, taking his kids to movies and arcades, and was a proud grandfather (PaPa) – often the provider of sweet treats he had hidden. Tom was a gamer himself, and loved bingo, slots, arcade games, bowling, and billiards. He was an avid fisherman and Chicago Sports fan. Tom was very well loved by his family and friends and will be sorely missed.
Tom is survived by his children, Jamey (Dennis) Dwyer, Kevin Floren, and Jessica Floren; grandchildren, Piper, Dennis Jr, Daisy, Andrew, Naomi, Alayah, and Kevin Jr.; sister, Laurie Floren; brother, Gilbert Floren; nieces and nephews, Lisa, Doug, and Nikki; along with many beloved cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Valerie Floren; his parents, Gilbert (Dorothy) Floren and Helen “Penny” (Edward) Kawalec; his sister, Sharon Cortez; his nephew, Marty; and niece, Aubrie; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
