Yvonne M (Wasilewski) Lemmerhirt

Yvonne M. Lemmerhirt, age 83, of Powers Lake, WI, passed away December 21, 2021 at Burlington Memorial Hospital. She was born in Cornell, WI on May 5, 1938. Yvonne attended school in Milwaukee and Genoa City and graduated high school in 1956 where she graduated as salutatorian of her class. She attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison and received her bachelor’s degree in education in 1960. Yvonne taught grades 2 and 3 in West Allis for three years until 1963 when she began working at her beloved Randall School. She taught grades 2, 5, 7, and 8 until she became the full time Assistant Principal in 1972. Yvonne earned her master’s degree plus 12 credits from UW Milwaukee in educational administration in 1978. Yvonne became the District Administrator at Randall in 1984. She was the first woman to join the Wisconsin School District Administrators and received the Woman of Distinction award from the Westosha Business and Professional Women.

When she retired from Randall, Yvonne enjoyed volunteering at Burlington Memorial Hospital. She was an avid book reader and a lover of her Green Bay Packers and all University of Wisconsin sports. She loved working in her yard and talking to all her friends and neighbors. Yvonne was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Slades Corners where she and Lowell were married.

Yvonne married Lowell L. Lemmerhirt on June 24, 1960 and they enjoyed 58 years together until Lowell’s death in 2019. Yvonne is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline (Zygmunt) Lemmerhirt-Kowalski, her sister-in-law, Joy Kerkoff, and her adopted family who she cared so much for, Karen, John, Matthew, and Megan Reddin. Yvonne leaves behind so many life-time friends and neighbors who she cherished.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 26, 2021 from 3:00PM until 6:00PM at Haase Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home, 620 Legion Dr., Twin Lakes, WI. Visitation will continue Monday, December 27, 2021 from 9:30AM until 11:00AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Slades Corners, 39506 60th St, Burlington, WI. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00AM at church. Burial to take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery following the funeral service.
