Elizabeth "Elsie" Rose Lukasik

Elizabeth Rose “Elsie” Lukasik age 101 of Richmond, IL, died Friday morning April 17, 2015 at The Fountains at Crystal Lake in Crystal Lake, IL.

Elsie was born on October 6, 1913 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose Ogolin Varvodick.  On April 14, 1943 in Sarasota, Florida, Elsie was united in marriage to John Joseph Lukasik.  John preceded her in death on March 14, 1994.  Elsie lived in Chicago until moving to Richmond in 1977.  She formerly worked for the American Can Company and then as a lab technician for Kraft Foods for 23 years.  Elsie was the first woman to be hired by Ford Motorcraft in Chicago during WWII to make B52 Bombers.

 Elsie was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Twin Lakes.  She was young at heart and enjoyed going out to lunch with her friends.  She always wore a hat.  She was a member of social clubs, the Twin Lakes Seniors and loved antique shopping.  Her favorite saying was “I lived till I died.”

Elsie is survived by:  a granddaughter-Jennifer (Marc) Bulandr of Barrington, IL; 3 great grandchildren-Haley, Jacob and Joshua.

Elsie was preceded in death by 1 son-John A. Lukasik and 2 brothers-Raymond M and Edward Varvodick.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00PM Monday April 20. 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 701 N. Lake Ave. Twin Lakes, WI with Fr. Terry Langley officiating.  Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.  The Lukasik Family will receive friends from 10:30AM Monday until Prayers at 11:30AM Monday at the the Haase-Lockwood & Assoc. Funeral Home 620 Legion Dr. Twin Lakes, WI.  Memorial remembrances may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 E.
