Robert G. “Ding” Miller, Sr., age 88, of La Crosse, WI, passed away Sunday evening, January 14, 2018 at the Lakeview Health Care in West Salem, WI.
Robert George Miller was born on August 4, 1929 in Genoa City, WI, the son of the late Herman T. and Elsa Stolp Miller. On January 8, 1952 in Genoa City, WI, Robert was united in marriage to Mary M. McDonald. They lived in Genoa City for many years, then Lyons, WI and La Crosse, WI.
Robert served as a Corporal with the 351st Infantry in the U.S Army from February 15, 1951 until discharge on Jan. 29, 1953.
Robert worked as a carpenter for several different contractors in southeast Wisconsin. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Genoa City. He was also a member of the Sponholtz-Deignan American Legion Post #183 in Genoa City for over 50 years. He enjoyed sports, playing softball, hunting, fishing, golfing and bowling.
Robert is survived by: His wife, Mary; 4 children, Robert G. Miller, Jr. of Naples, FL, Timothy K. Miller of Naples, FL, Minda A. (Mark J.) Chamberlain of La Crosse, WI and Scott M. Miller of Boca Raton, FL; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel, brother, Harris L. Miller; sister, Ruth E. Volden and step mother Emma Voss Braun.
The Miller Family will receive friends from 1:00PM until Funeral Services at 2:00PM, Saturday January 20, 2018 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 624 Park Street, Genoa City, WI. Private interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Genoa City. Memorial remembrances may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 624 Park St. Genoa City, WI. 53128.
