William Francis Dunn

William F. Dunn Jr. 74, of Elkhorn, WI died Friday July 8, 2016 at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center Milwaukee, WI.  Bill was born August 29, 1942 in Green Bay, WI the son of the late William F. and Helen L.(Cordery) Dunn.  He served from January 6, 1961 until June 18, 1968 in the U.S. Air Force with two tours of duty in Vietnam, he also served in Germany and in Japan where he established a Boy Scout troop.  On November 21, 1970 he was united in marriage to Linda Elizabeth Stewart at Holy Cross Church of Deerfield, IL.  Bill was a police officer for over 9 years working for both, the Deerfield Police Department of Deerfield, IL and the Glendale Police Department of Glendale, AZ.  Subsequently he worked for PPG Industries, New York Life and Household Finance.  On April 30, 1988 he was ordained a Deacon by Joseph Cardinal Bernardin in Chicago, IL.   He served as chaplain for the Mundelein police department.  Bill and Linda made their home in Elkhorn in 2002, where Bill served as Deacon for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Elkhorn, WI from 2002 until his retirement in 2013.  Bill was involved with his church family, Knights of Columbus Council #3464 served as their chaplain.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching the Green Bay Packers, he was an avid reader.  He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America and was himself an Eagle Scout. But his greatest love was his family, he was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his wife of 46 years, Linda, his two sons; William F. (Tanya) Dunn III of Haslett, TX and Mitchell L. Dunn of Whitewater, WI, seven grandchildren, three sisters; Nancy (Dan) Kreer of Monterey, CA, Suzanne (Joe) Baranowski of Severna Park, MD, Yvonne (John) Wiech of Mundelein, IL, two brothers; Thomas (Sue) Dunn of Grayslake, IL and Ronald Dunn of Round Lake, IL, dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.  Memorial funeral mass with military honors will be 10:00 AM Saturday July 30, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church 107 W. Walworth Street Elkhorn, WI with Father Oriol Regales presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 am until time of mass.  Burial will be at Mt.
