William John Langford

February 1, 1927 ~ October 2, 2015 (age 88) 88 Years Old


William (Bill) J. Langford age 88 of Genoa City, WI.  passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Friday Oct. 2, 2015 while in Hospice Care at the Vintage on the Ponds, in Delevan.  Bill was born at West Side Hospital, Chicago, IL.  Feb. 1, 1927 the son of the late William & Margaret (Rice) Langford. He attended Ascension Grade and Fenwick High Schools in Oak Park, IL. Bill was drafted out of his senior year into the Army, attending boot camp @ Camp Wolters, Texas and was sent overseas to Italy with the occupational forces at the end of World War 2. Honorably discharged in 1946, he returned to finish his senior year and graduate from Oak Park High School. Shortly after he enrolled in Washburn Trade School in Chicago to begin his lifelong career as a plumber.             

           On May 12, 1956 at St. Eulalia Church in Maywood, IL. Bill was united in marriage to Nancy Lou Coffey. They were married for 58 years, until Nancy passed on in July 2014.Bill and family moved to Twin Lakes in 1962. Early on Bill commuted to Chicago to work for several north side plumbing contractors before striking out on his own locally in the mid-60’s until retiring about 2000. Bill, an avid storyteller, enjoyed talking (often at great length) to anyone who would listen about his high school athletics, service time in Italy and brag about his children/grandkids as long as they weren’t around to hear him.

            Bill is survived by his 5 children, William E. (Willie); Mary P. (Jeffrey) Niederer; Eileen J.; Katherine (Joel) Matt and Daniel J. (Peggy).  He is further survived by his 4 Grandchildren: Megan A. (Chris) Mendoza, Melani E. (Kyle) Wachholder, Laura R. and William J. Langford. One great-grand daughter ETA Feb. 2016 (Melani). Nieces: Peggy, Leslie, Caryn, Abbey & Kathy. Nephews: Sandy, Mike & Brian and sister-in law Peg Langford (Richard).  

            Bill was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, brother Richard, sisters Eileen Griffin & Josephine Worcester and nephew Richard Griffin.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday Oct. 12, 2015 at 12:00 PM at the Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home 620 Legion Dr.  Twin Lakes, WI.  Pastor Judy Wang officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until the time of services at the Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Mound Prairie Cemetery Twin Lakes, WI.  Memorials in lieu of flowers are requested to be made to the Alzheimer Association or the Twin Lakes, Wis.
