Robert E. Sigmund

ROBERT E. SIGMUND, 68, of Foster Road Elkhorn, WI died Sunday November 22, 2015 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn. He was born May 17, 1947 in Elkhorn, WI the son of the late Charles F. and Nancy J. (Seltmann) Sigmund. He was a 1966 graduate of Elkhorn High School. He also received an Associate Degree in Tool & Die Making from Blackhawk Technical College. He served in the US Army from 1967 to 1969, completing a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded three Purple Heart medals, the Cross of Gallantry with the Bronze Star, and the Army Commendation award.  Bob was a Sergeant when he was honorably discharged in 1969. On November 14, 1981 he was united in marriage to Rebecca L. Hecht at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Elkhorn.. For over forty years Bob worked as a self-employed carpenter, having built and remodeled many local homes before retiring. He was an active member of the National Rifle Association, enjoyed woodworking projects, and gun collecting.  He was a devoted and loving husband and father who will be dearly missed by his wife of 34 years, Rebecca (Becky), son Charles of Madison, WI and daughter Emma of Elkhorn, one brother, Charles (Marjorie) Sigmund of Port Wing, WI,  two aunts, an uncle and several  cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Memorial service with military honors will be held 4:00 PM Friday November 27, 2015 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 730 N. Wisconsin St. Elkhorn, WI.
