Alyce Lily (Robinson) Smith

Alyce L. Smith of Elkhorn, WI passed away at home surrounded by her family on March 16, 2016.  Alyce was born the daughter of the late Earl and Bernice Robinson in Elkhorn, WI.  Alyce married Gordon P. Smith on December 21, 1957 at LaGrange United Methodist Church in LaGrange, WI.  Alyce was proud to be a school teacher, she started out teaching in Troy Center for the East Troy School District, and then moved on to West Side Elementary of Elkhorn.  After taking a break to raise her children, she taught at Lakeland School of Elkhorn as an Instructional Assistant for the next 26 years.  She also donated her time as a 4H Leader and a Sunday School Teacher.  She loved all types of flowers and gardening.  She spent the last 15 years raising and selling produce for the family farm, Cedar Bend Farm.  She also spent 45 years with her husband Gordon helping in the barn raising a flock of purebred Shropshire Sheep.  The most important thing of all to Alyce was her family; she loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, shepherdess, and teacher.

Alyce is preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her husband Gordon; children: Steven (Trula) Smith, Lisa (Peter) Koss, and Alan (Jackie) Smith; grandchildren: Michael Smith, Daniel Smith, Hannah Koss, and Marcus Smith; and a sister, Sylvia (Paul) Baker.  She will also be dearly missed by the staff at Lakeland School and her many dear friends. 

Visitation for Alyce will be held at LaGrange United Methodist Church, N8548 County Road H Whitewater, WI on Friday March 18, 2016 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM and on Saturday March 19, 2016 from 10:30AM to 11:00AM.  A Memorial Service will take place at Church at 11:00AM on Saturday March 19, 2016.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to LaGrange United Methodist Church, N8548 County Road H Whitewater, WI 53190; or to Lakeland School, W3905 County Road NN Elkhorn, WI 53121.  Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory of Elkhorn is assisting the family.
